J Jiang (b. 2000, Shanghai) currently lives in Oxford. Her artistic practice spans installation, sculpture, performance, and the construction of specific situations. She received her BFA in Sculpture and Performance Art from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2023 and is currently pursuing her MFA at the Ruskin School of Art, University of Oxford, graduating in 2026. Her work has been exhibited internationally, including at SAIC Gallery, Chicago; Suhe Haus SOOFA, Shanghai; West Bund Art Centre, Shanghai; and Alte Handelschule, Leipzig. Her site-specific performances have been presented at The Research House for Asian Art (RHAA), Watershed Art and Ecology, and Comfort Station in Chicago, as well as 4C Gallery in Los Angeles

Jiang’s practice focuses on the relationship between individual psychology and surrounding reality. She often creates forms that resist clear classification, introduces game-like structures and rules, and constructs new situations in specific sites. As familiar systems begin to loosen, viewers are brought into a state of uncertainty and invited to sense the latent connections between subjects, environments, and perception. Her work also reflects on human agency in the posthuman era: as the world continues to change, how do individuals make choices, perceive reality, and form relationships with the unknown, and how might these choices continue to affect wider cycles of life
